The Dog and His Toys

I guess you could put this blog under "kids' clothes and toys," since the dog is in many ways another child. He has been downgraded slightly closer to just dog since we had our son, but we still shop for toys and new treats on a regular basis. His latest toy is the stuffed loofa dog nicknamed "Bobo" after the dog in the Petsmart commercial. They even had Christmas-style Bobo dogs in December. Petco also carries the same toy, but it's not promoted like at Petsmart. I do like the "Booda" rawhide and treat bars in the front of Petco; it's a fun way to provide some variety for your dog.

I know I'm not alone in treating the dog like a member of the family or spending money on him; I think this country spends millions on pets every year. Based on the rapidly growing sections of bird, fish, and hamster gear, apparently dogs and cats aren't the only ones seen as members of the family.

Two dates to be aware of: for horse owners, the State Line brand is being discontinued at Petsmart, and the clearance sale is March 22. Also, Petco is having a Hamster Ball Derby March 31 at 2:00. This I gotta see.
