Where Oh Where has James Brown Gone? Oh Where Oh Where Can He Be?

Posted by Sonia on February 06, 2007 - 8:45 AM

James Brown left this world on December 25, 2007. It is now 2/6/07 and he is still not laid to rest! His family and attorneys can't agree on the details of his estate including where his final resting place will be so, James Brown's body is in limbo.

Of course, Mr. Brown's body, being the celebrity that he was, went on tour complete with wardrobe changes. First his body was brought to New York’s Apollo Theatre so fans can bid him farewell. He then traveled through Harlem by horse drawn carriage. After New York he was taken to North Augusta where a private ceremony took place for family and close friends. Then it was on to the James Brown Arena for a public viewing.

Once this viewing was over they took his body to a climate controlled room at his Beech Island estate. I don't know about you but I think that's just morbid and quite frankly a bit creepy. He stayed at the estate for 20 days under constant guard.

Now the word is that his body has been moved to a crypt in an “undisclosed location” by his trustees! Do his children know where this location is? I don’t know but it would be very disturbing to me to know my parent died and I didn’t know where their remains were.

Anyway, James Brown had a funeral fit for a king complete with gold casket (NO not gold in color...24 karat GOLD!) and celebrities. Now he gets to WAIT to rest in peace. I’m just wondering… what do you think?

…children are in a financial dispute with the trustees of the Brown estate, and it is possible that he will not be laid to rest until it is settled. In recent weeks, Brown's body, sealed in a gold-painted casket, has been kept in a temperature-controlled room at his home in Beech Island, S.C.

To date, Brown's body is still lying in a sealed gold casket that has been removed to an undisclosed location. The legal wrangling has postponed burial. Another Brown attorney, Debra Opri, told E! Online last month that the family is planning to turn the residence into a Graceland-style memorial site.

www.wfmy.com is reporting that the trustees have replaced the security guards at the Brown Estate.

This shows that the children are OUT OF THE LOOP. The trustees are in charge right now....

James Brown: Security Guards Replaced At Home

The security guards who worked at James Brown's Beech Island, South Carolina, home were let go by the trustees handling Brown's estate.

Columbia, SC -- A matter of security, or perhaps insecurity? No one can say for sure, but the bottom line is this: the security guards who worked at James Brown's Beech Island, South Carolina, home no longer work there.

They were let go by the trustees handling Brown's estate. And those representing Brown's children suggest there's something fishy about the whole thing. The information is in a report filed as part of a lawsuit seeking to have the trustees removed.

And it says that one of the guards reported seeing trustees and their representatives take a document from a secret location in Brown's home. The guard, Joseph Lee, worked for James Brown Enterprises as a security officer and was charged with protecting the personal property at the singer's home.

I think the family knows where this location is but doesn't want the public to know for security reasons. My thought is that they think that if we all know where he is someone will try to dig him up for some very deranged reason. He was a huge celebrity and that would be a thought some whacko would come up with thinking valuable stuff is in that casket.
But I believe that we should know where he is exactly so that the people of this state that could not or did not go to a viewing can go and pay their respects whenever they please. SO..someone make a decision already before it's too late. James Brown needs a final place to rest in peace.

Thank you.

This is an interesting viewpoint. However, I believe all the decisions are being made with dollar signs in mind.

I think the delusional children is trying to keep his body out until they can build a mausoleum and then put his body on display. "What a stupid idea" Why else are they not having him buried even temporarily?
Either that or they don't want to pay to have him exhumed later. Personally, I think Mr. Reid the funeral home operator is in it with them and of course he keeps getting paid.
Some of residents of Augusta Ga act whack. Voodoo perhaps?

This is sad that the root of all evil (money) comes first before a Love One if there is any true love or respect. I'm sure that Mr. James Brown would like, to buried along with his mother, and son if they are buried together. To keep family together. It's a shame that for the love of money comes first, and family member put on the back burner.

For me, it was a sad occasion to hear of James Brown demise.
Today, for me, it is more sad to hear that he has not been laid to rest.
I implore the children to please lay him to rest, to set aside all the legal aspects, the animosity and let your father rest in peace.
Deanna, I have all ways had deep respect for you, so, DO THE RIGHT THING AGAIN, and you all will feel much better.

I think the children have their hands tied. Once they get rid of the trustees things will probably move right along.
