Tonight, the state of our union is ____

Posted by Augusta.com Staff on January 23, 2007 - 11:20 AM

Help fill in the blank. What should President Bush say this evening in his State of the Union address? What national issues are most important to you?

After the speech airs tonight at 9 p.m., also feel free to come back and leave a follow-up on what the president actually says.

is promising now that the rest of the country has woken up and realized that the democrats, though not perfect, are more in tune with reality than the current administration and their party.

The state of the Union in January 2007 is POOR.

There are things vitally wrong in almost all aspects of American life. This is primarily due to the neglence and ineptitude of our present "government of all the people".

Iraq leads Bush Administration mistakes. All else flows from this botched irrationality.

Tonight the state of the Union is still divided. There seems to be agreement on the problems, but the disagreement is in the solutions. The democrats still want the government to control every aspect of our lives and the republications want to find solutions that will empower people to have control over there own destiny.

Yes, the Republicans want the people control their own destiny-- the people at Halliburton, Enron, Chase!

What have you been smoking? The Republican Party is the ones now trying to control everything at the federal level and trying to dictate people's lives as well as taking away personal freedoms. But go ahead BTurner1953, stay true to this administration...I guess you have been brainwashed like Winston in 1984.

The state of our union is disunited because we have no common purpose beyond making money. George W. Bush and the Republican Party have become the party of big business which today means global corporatism. Transnational corporations' only responsibility is to their bottom line. They do not owe allegiance to any nation. I will not fight to defend the profits of GE or any other corporate giant. I think corporate tax law needs to be rewritten so that corporations have responsibilities to the societies they affect.

I will fight to defend my family, my neighbors, my community, and the legitimate self-defense of my country. I will not fight wars for the rich, the decision making class, or for corporate profits.

America must seize the bull by the horns and affect immediate change in nearly every aspect of our society starting with the cessation of illegal wars of aggression, becoming absolutely intolerant of graft and corruption, and unleasing American innovation to adapt new technologies that lead to a sustainable economy starting with a massive drive for energy independence. We must look beyond short term profits.

The state of the Union is such that the political parties are indistinguishable, except for the Red and Blue. All are for expanding the reach and control of the Federal government and spending tax money on bridges to nowhere, and other such nonsense. That is why, this year, I said to heck with it, and joined the Libertarian Party. With grass roots support, we can take back our country from the corporations and the governent bureaucrats who covet our tax money for their own interests. For those of you who remain addicted to the teat of the federal dollar, look at whether there is long term benefit to the program and could it be done in another way.
