The key opposing words here are "in" and "with". We were at war "with" Germany. We are at war "in" Iraq. We've been "at" war with Islam since 1979 when Khomeini decided to kidnap and hold 66 American citizens hostage. Nobody seems to want to admit that we are the ones defending ourselves and our way of life.

And if memory serves me, the latest terrorist groups have reiterated the fact that they are "at" war with us, the infidels. How many times do we have to be attacked before it's kosher for us to fight back? 4? 5? 10 times?

Let's see...1979, Iran. 1983, Lebanon. 1984, Lebanon again. 1988, Lockerbie, Scotland. 1993, NYC (yes, getting closer to home, are we?). 1995, OKC (yeah, those homegrown terroists are the worst). 1996, Saudi Arabia. 1998, multiple locations in Africa...simultaneously, I might add. 2000, Yemen (that nasty little attack on the USS Cole). 2001, NYC...yeah, 9/11, the big one. Wow...that's just short of 10. I'm sure I missed a couple here and there. And these are attacks solely against the US. This doesn't even touch the surface of what they've done to citizens of countries all over the world. London has been hit along with Madrid and Indonesia (multiple times)....too many to even go into. Google it if you don't believe me.

If you want to see some really staggering numbers, look at the number of servicemen and women we lost during WWII vs. Iraq. We just hit over 2500 in Iraq over the last 3 years 4 months. We have an estimate of 2500 (American only)servicemen lost on one day...June 6, 1944..in Normandy, France. And yet, WE WON!! Germany is free...or somewhat free. At least Hitler was gone. And guess what? We STILL have troops in Germany. Go figure.

Okay, I want to see a show of hands...how many people would rather "us" be fighting wtih "them" over in the middle east than here in our own backyard?

During WWII the enemy wore uniforms and were easily distinguishable from civilians. In this war the enemy hides among civilians, kills their own civilians and has no respect for their own life let alone their own people's lives. (What, with 72 virgins awaiting them?)In short, this is a religious war where the enemy is trying to incite a bloody civil war to gain supremacy of their sect so they may bully over the other sect. All the while they are using the American occupation as an excuse.
We have never fought a war such as this which is a main reason why it is taking much longer.
