Nose to face as President to nation?

Posted by gimpel on July 26, 2006 - 6:37 AM

Neither should be cut off to spite the other
America has been strong for hundreds of years.
We should be strong for hundreds more.
There will be many more Presidents.
Each of us will like some, others not so much.

But to show hatred for an American President, the leader of the free world and often conqueror of the not-so-free, makes our enemies think we are vulnerable. If “protests” were a factor in our loss to tiny Vietnam, what does Iran have to fear? Korea?
We look divided, and thus weak.
Protests that include “Bush is a terrorist” simply fall outside the realm of effective dissent. It is a disproportionate response, a misguided action.

Golda Meir once said, in times much like our own:
“We will have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us.”

And America is strongest when protestors love America more than they love protesting, or hating George Bush.

There is no other democratic country in the world that has as much political in-fighting as does Israel. However when it comes to protecting themselves from outside incursions, Israel is more united than any other democratic country.
For the Democrats in this country to so openly hate and spew such horrid rhetoric about anything Republican and specifically GWB is nothing short of treason in time of war.
The federal statute on treason, 18 USC 2381, provides in relevant part: "Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States ... adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death."
Somebody please tell that to former governor Dean.

You two apparently do not understand what "freedom" is. If disliking one's president and openly expressing such views is treason, then I guess we do not live in a "free" country. Howard Dean may be not be the brightest bulb in the book, but he has the right to be a moron if he wants.

Israel is always trying to occupy areas outside of its own limits. They are not better than the "terrorists" they fight. Both sides are doing wrong. As for us, we invade countries to cause regime change when we see fit. We helped Saddam rise to power when it suited our needs, and we took him out as it suited our needs. Iran and North Korea do not see protests and see us as weak, they see us bogged down in Iraq and see us as weak. That is good old fashioned common sense, which no one seems to use.

when all the world is free, perhaps freedom won't require responsibility.
But until then, and while uncivilized nations can take it away, freedom should be respected.
We can disagree, but that disagreement should be expressed within certain boundaries.
However, some extremist narcissistic protestors just don't seem to care. They seem to protest just because they have the freedom to do so but without the necessary cognitive abilities to make it an effective means to get what they want.
It is the Cindy Sheehan types the blog was about.
I think you knew that.
Oh, and there are actual books about the history of Israel.
Perhaps you should read one. Israel has never occupied areas it didn't win in a war.
It's quite simple, actually.
Arab nations attack, Arab nations lose property.

Maybe the books you read differ from the ones I read. Israel has tried occupying areas it has not won in wars. All Arabs and Arab nations are not the same either. Sunnis and Shiites hate each other more than any hate us for the most part, so its hard to lump them together.

With freedom comes responsibility. My point is that especially during a time of war (lest we forget, we are at war) the irresponsible Democrats and some Republicans refuse to unite against a common enemy. They would rather play silly politics than stand fast and do something constructive. All that does is strengthen the enemy. Remember, divided we fall!
America is dividing itself from within and the enemy is laughing all the way to the Bank of Armageddon.
