Got Milk?

Posted by LaTina Emerson on August 25, 2008 - 9:13 AM

If you want strong, healthy bones or have growing children, you probably have a container of milk inside your refrigerator. Since you plan on buying it anyway, why not earn a free gallon? Food Lion is willing to reward you for buying multiple gallons of milk.

Here’s the tip of the day:

If Food Lion customers purchase six gallons of Food Lion brand milk, they will get a free gallon. Customers will receive one ticket for each gallon of milk they purchase. The sale applies to whole, 2 percent, 1 percent or Skim Food Lion brand milk only.

If consumers collect six tickets, they can redeem them for one free gallon of Food Lion brand milk. The promotion lasts from Aug. 20 to Dec. 9. Customers must use their Food Lion MVP card to receive the offer.

Visit your local Food Lion store for further information.

Do you know of any great sales on milk this week? Write in to The Pinch to let me know.

Publix is running some great deals on milk to encourage shoppers to try them out. The classic 'loss-leader' strategy. Most stores I've seen milk around $4.20 or higher, but at Publix it's around $3.75.

Too little, too late, but Bi-Lo was running a similar free milk deal that ended earlier this month. You had to collect seven milk tokens (one per gallon purchased) to get a free gallon, but you could get additional tokens for buying specially-marked products. We scored a free gallon, and let someone else have our extra tokens we couldn't use before the deadline to help them get their own free gallon.
