Is Tuesday Best Day to Purchase Gas?
Are you buying your gasoline on the right day of the week? One recent poll reports that you should buy gas on Tuesday – it’s cheaper.
The Cincinnati Enquirer recently completed a mapping study that tracked daily average gas prices at more than 700 stations in Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky. Al Tompkins wrote about the study on Aug. 7 at Poynteronline.
The reporters monitored gas prices for two months (May and June) and came up with several conclusions about gas prices. They found that gas prices are cheaper on Tuesdays.
Here are some other findings from The Cincinnati Enquirer’s study:
- Gasoline is highest near interstates or farther out in the country
- Big box retailers sell the cheapest gas (can offer lower prices with store discount cards or memberships)
- Gas prices vary within the same brand (For example, the reporters found a 38-cent average daily difference between the highest and lowest prices at more than 100 BP stations.)
Have you found the same gas trends in our part of the country? Write in to The Pinch to share your observations.
