As a son of Capt. Richard Rich, who's remains were just identified in 2000. I want to thank Hillcrest and Dignity for bringing thier version of The Wall to Augusta. This vesion of The Wall has not been updated in atleast 8 yrs. I know this because my dad was MIA from 1967-2000, when they identified his remains. the cross is still next to his name and not a diamond. Having been assocaited with several traveling Wall exhibits in the past 15 yrs. I was very pleased with the set up there. The Eternal Flame is very nice. There are some issues with the personnel and the set up of the POW memorial table. This morning, after I got off work. I went over to see The Wall, they were reading The Names on The Wall. I had asked if I could read my dad's name. I was told by one of the organizers, that they were doing it in order, and would not go out of order. But I welcomed to do some readings. Unforantly, working 12 hr shifts. I had to get home to get some sleep. My wife: Whose fathers is listed as POW-Last Seen Alive. Asked if she could read her dads name. there was a "post" member that was extremly rude to us. Using profanity at The Wall is uncalled for and certainly not to Family Members of those on The Wall. We were talking with a very nice couple and they were taken aback by this persons attitude also. The POW/MIA table is missing the bible. I do hope during the candlelight ceremony tonight. That they have a family member of one that is still unaccounted for light the candle from the table. As that is protocol All these things have left a bad taste for this particular exhibit.

I am the daughter of one still MIA, and the wife of the above son whose father was MIA as told in the post above. I agree with my husband about Hillcrest and the Dignity company for giving this chance for the citizens of the CSRA to visit and take part in the replical of one of the Nations greatest memorials. However when you seek volunteers at these events I guess there will always be those who are rude to us the family members. With that said, those who volunteer whether Vet or not , should be very very careful who they are rude to. As they just might be someone who comes to visit a name that is connected by blood legacy. The family, because when it gets right down to it the families of the 58,000 plus names are the true VIP's.
