Tonight

Posted by Rachel Balducci on January 31, 2008 - 2:01 PM

Tonight, I realized it's not that Henry doesn't like to eat. He just doesn't like baby food. Because if that stuff was any good, the rest of the family would eat it as well.

Tonight, one boy was quick to obey when I sent him upstairs to put on his pajamas. He came back down right away with his t-shirt, pj bottoms and underwear -- on the outside. He walked around like there was absolutely nothing wrong with this get-up. Also, the orange hunting glasses were a perfect finishing touch.

Tonight, I turned around and looked into the kitchen to find a boy grating parmesan cheese -- over his head. "It's snowing," he declared with glee.

Tonight, one boy asked if I thought cows and bees would be in heaven. "I don't really know," I said. "Well," he wondered, "how will there be milk and honey?"

Tonight, I had so many opportunities to be frustrated -- but at least as many to laugh.

May there always be the grace -- and energy -- to laugh.

THE MILK AND HONEY ANECDOTE REMINDS ME OF MY TWO BEING IN VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL. MY MOTHER IN LAW ASKED WHAT THEY LEARNED THAT DAY AND THEY REPLIED THAT THEY LEARNED ABOUT THE VERY FIRST FAMILY.SHE THEN ASKED THEM IF THEY COULD NAME THE TWO BOYS...AND MY OLDEST( FOUR AT THE TIME) REPLIED THEY WERE CALLED "CANDY-CANE AND ABLE".
