Suggestions to rename “Disgusta” aren’t much better
With recent calls to get rid of the “Disgusta” tag favored by Augusta’s detractors, area residents have started considering the alternatives. CSRA Help leader Woody Merry claims the negative nickname is one of the biggest challenges Augusta faces.
“By my calculations, the nickname ‘Disgusta’ sits at number 72 of Augusta’s nearly 40,000 identified problems,” Merry said. “We’ve gotta start chopping away at the list sometime, and we might as well start with the nickname.”
The News Abuser has come up with a quick list of alternatives to the ‘Disgusta’ name, as favored by various segments of the population:
Bigusta – Referring to the expanding waistlines of the city’s population.
Cigusta – Smokers of the CSRA are uniting for this proposal.
Disgusta – The problem as it stands today.
Fisgusta – Referring to the poor manner in which Richmond County manages its money.
Gigusta – Local bands and performers are hoping this one takes off.
Hisgusta – Augusta National’s section of town.
Isgusta – Anticipating the development of a wind problem.
Kisgusta – A more optimistic name for the romantic and love-inducing areas of town.
Mugusta – Some parts of Augusta are more dangerous than others.
Rigusta – Italian eateries are in favor of this name.
Sisgusta – When Martha Burk takes over, she will be implementing this one immediately.
Tisgusta – As opposed to Thatgusta (Augusta, Maine).
Visgusta – Areas of Augusta frequented by tourists.
Wisgusta – What everyone wishes Augusta could be.
Zisgusta – Eastern European version of Tisgusta.
Suggestions will be taken in the comments field below, with the top three being put up to a referendum in the next few months.
Note: Of course Merry didn’t really speak for this piece. This thing is always fake. But if you like any of the suggestions, feel free to pass them on to Deke.
