It's time to recognize the stupid

Posted by Channing-100Proof on November 22, 2005 - 12:11 PM

For as long as I can remember, there has been someone in my life that told me when I was being stupid. They would verbally or physically put me in my place. I grew up in a time when it was ok to beat your child if he or she acted up. When I was growing up it was ok for everyone to beat you. It wasn't child abuse it was knocking some sense into your kids and I am a better person today because of it.

In college, my male friends were ruthless and would talk about anyone at the drop of a hat but they wouldn't say anything behind your back that they wouldn't say to your face. Say something stupid they told you. Wore something that you should not have worn (like corduroy shorts) and you would be talked about. They would verbally knock some sense into you.

Everyone needs people like this because we can't always see when we are doing/saying/wearing something that we shouldn't be. It is my firm belief that some fairly important people do not have someone to tell them when they being stupid. They don't have anyone to knock some sense into them. Well, I plan to remedy that.

During the First Annual Kick Them in the Throat Awards, I plan on highlighting people that need a lot more than a smack in the head. A simple smack is not enough to knock some sense into them. They need a stronger dose. They need to be kicked in the throat. It's not pretty but sometimes it's necessary.

Here are some examples of people that need a Kick in the Throat.

Sports:

Terrell Owens - A living stereotype of the spoiled athlete.

The Minnesota Vikings - These guys are professional football players they can afford to BUY a boat to get freaky on. If they owned the boat and personally hired the crew they could have had their orgy in private.

Entertainment:

Paris Hilton - When a sex tape is the high point of your life, you know that you have problems.

Michael Jackson - It might be too late for him but someone needs to try and save him from himself.

R. Kelly - Enough with this Trapped in the Closet crap. It's not interesting…at all.

Politics:

The Augusta Commission - Exactly what did they learn in Hawaii? Are we going to have luaus after every meeting now?

Columbia County District Attorney's Office and some angry parents - For locking up boys from Greenbrier when it appears that all they did was have consensual sex.

Every politician, every party - I don't care if you are liberal, conservative, or other. If you are a politician, you are probably scum.

These are just a few of the early nominees. The official list comes out next week. If you know someone that should be on the list for the prestigious Throatie Award, leave me a comment or drop me a line. It doesn't matter if they are in a foreign county or right here in the C.S.R.A. If they deserve it, my size 12's will reach them.

My kick in the throat is for those Corporate Media groups, specifically Clear Channel, who CLAIM to have care and understanding of their local audience, yet never show it in their air time. I remember when WBBQ was listed as one of the TOP 50 radio stations in the nation on the BILLBOARD. As a matter of fact BILLBOARD magazine used to rely on WBBQ for their input on the TOP 40 list of pop tunes. Nowadays when the holiday season approaches our once proud and popular radio station that was considered one of the top sources of radio news in the C.S.R.A. is doomed to replay ever imagineable traditional Christmas tune in the world.

It's nice to know if we don't like what we hear on the radio, we can change the station or just shut it off.

If I remember correctly it was Beasley Broadcasting's WSLT, (Lite 98) that began the asinine tradition of changomg their format to 100% Christmas music early in November. Soon both WBBQ and WSLT will switch to Christams music the day after Labor Day. I can't wait! Kick 'em in the throat!!

While the rant is on radio stations, i'd just love to give a huge sloppy smack right on the forehead and then kick'em in the throat for the idiot (which just happened to be one of the younger night time DJ's- i won't mention any names) that said this area has no market for Top 40 type music, HELLO!!! if there are 10 teenagers or even 10 people like me (young at heart, likes the new stuff) then there is a market for it!! and why, just why the he** do we need another country (cryin in my beer) station!! Thank goodness for XM Radio!! and yes i do know i can turn it off or change it but i don't want to!!!

I'm thru... the soapbox is NOW available!!LOL

Here's one, the person that said that George Bush sent Hurricane Katrina to LA (via Satellite technology) to kill all the poor people should just be kicked twice. If George Bush controls the weather, I'd like it to be snowing at Christmas in the south and he needs to back off with the Hurricanes, FEMA is broke. Could someone let him know this.
