Smith takes over for Scott Chadwick, who I've been told spent his last day at Greenbrier High School last week. I was told he's taken a job in another state. Hot! Fresh! Check out this month's Good Housekeeping -- I'm in there, on the very last page in a column called Blessings. I'm very excited! My mom (proudly) showed her cashier at the grocers yesterday when she came across the magazine. "This is my daughter," she exclaimed. The cashier wanted to know where I lived. "Right here in town," said my mom. "Wow," said the woman, "I figured she had to live up in New York or somethin'." Nope, just finding adventure right here in the good ol' South. The Wildcats are trying to fall in line with the rest of the Richmond County schools even though they decided not to move up to Class AAAA. Laney athletic director Otis Smart is very passionate about this. He cites travel needs, lost instructional time and a desire to fit in with the rest of the county on travel. He wanted to move out of a Macon-based region and cut down on travel like the rest of the county was doing. That decision looks very complicated. The status of the bell-cow football team that generates all the revenue for the rest of the school's teams as the only perennial playoff team in Richmond County looks seriously compromised. The bottom line is now very good Laney football teams will struggle to reach the playoffs in its new region. The Catch-22 would be that Laney would not have struggled to reach the playoffs if it moved to Class AAAA, but would have struggled to win playoff games against schools three times its size. What's more important? Playoff success or just getting there? You can't have playoff success if you can make it to the playoffs in the first place. If you love the scarlet and gray, get ready for a doozy of a schedule this fall. Louis Goulet, Aaron Slattengren, Geoff Peters and Matt Auffrey all scored for the Lynx. But all of that fine hockey will be nothing more than an afterthought for most of the reported 2,824 fans who showed up at James Brown Arena for a game originally scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start. Thanks to a pesky problem with the ice, the game didn't actually begin until 9:13 p.m.Is your football team free on August 29? Could Obama be the beginning of the end for us?Posted by 4Him on January 10, 2008 - 12:49 PM Here is a great article from IsraelNationalNews.com http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/7688 that speaks about how someone in Israel feels about the chance of Obama becoming our next president. Is the whole Muslim issue worth worrying about? I think so. If he is still accepted by the Muslim community, he would have to be still practicing Islam. If he is not practicing Islam any longer, then he would be hated be the Muslim community and he (according to their laws) has to die. Either way this country would be messed up. We would either be taken over by the Muslims or destroyed by them. And you can check out the church Obama has been attending since 1988 at http://www.tucc.org/home.htm. The "About Us" section is interesting, and if that is not enough, on the bottom of that page is a link to their "talking points" section that might also be enlightening. This "church" does not appear to have a respect for the country in which they live in. The country that gives them freedom and opportunities, jobs to support themselves. They declare a "non-negotiable committment to Africa". But, not only do we have to worry about the muslim issue. In the article that I mentioned in the first paragraph you see that Obama's pastor is accused of being anti-semitic. He has been quoted as saying he does not believe we should support Israel and that the land belongs to the Palestinians. This terrifies me! If we turn our back on Israel (God's declared Holy land), we are history. God may no longer keep His protecting hand on us. In the end, Israel will win..... "As you have been an object of cursing among the nations, O Judah and Israel, so will I save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong." Is U.S. headed for an economic disaster?Posted by Damon Cline on January 06, 2008 - 6:33 PM Chances are, you enjoy a better standard of living than your parents, certainly much better than your grandparents or great-grandparents.
