Could you pass 8th grade science?

Posted by tywebb on July 30, 2006 - 9:44 PM

It may be time to hit the books again. Find out if you could pass 8th grade science by taking a quiz.

Hillary is a good old boy!

Posted by gimpel on July 30, 2006 - 8:01 AM

Wow! Maybe now I’ll change my mind about her political views!
Maybe I’ll actually vote for her!
Maybe I’ll actually …
hmmm...Wait a minute… I just wonder.

A gospel of hate?

Posted by gimpel on July 29, 2006 - 6:34 AM

Basically, the dialogue is this:
Hate Austin Rhodes.

What's your favorite road music?

Posted by Augusta.com Staff on July 27, 2006 - 6:17 PM

When you're making like Clark Griswold on the holiday road, what tunes do you want on your stereo?

Cruel and unusual or Art?

Posted by tywebb on July 27, 2006 - 3:38 PM

Photographer Jill Greenberg's latest exhibition, "End Times," features children crying. The children are provoked by Greenberg taking away their candy or toys.

War- what is it good for?

Posted by gimpel on July 27, 2006 - 7:57 AM

Actually, a lot that we take for granted…

Hezbollah is worse than the KKK ever was. Would some have argued “restraint” in dealing with the KKK? Would they suggest that we should only get the klansman that actually put the rope around the neck, and not the one that supplied the rope or threw it around the tree limb...

Nose to face as President to nation?

Posted by gimpel on July 26, 2006 - 5:37 AM

Neither should be cut off to spite the other
America has been strong for hundreds of years.
We should be strong for hundreds more.
There will be many more Presidents.
Each of us will like some, others not so much.

But to show hatred...

Bought speech-what the market will hear…

Posted by gimpel on July 23, 2006 - 7:56 PM

The identity of Hezbollah’s financial supporters is shielded, but Hezbollah most likely receives most of their funds from Iran and Syria. Hezbollah uses this financial support to, of course, attack Israel, but also to win about one –fourth of the seats in the Lebanese government. The Lebanese people voted for them.
Hezbollah does not work in the best interest of the Lebanese people.

A $320 million woodpecker?

Posted by gimpel on July 22, 2006 - 9:56 AM

Wow… it should be called a gold pecker…
No, wait… gold is currently about $620/oz
This particular woodpecker is thought to weigh about 1.25 pounds, or 20 ounces.
That would make it worth $16 million / oz!

Israel must be defended

Posted by gimpel on July 21, 2006 - 5:38 AM

Because we might no be next, but we are on the list…

Why doesn’t Hezbollah simply release the kidnapped Israeli soldiers? That would end the aggressive defense.
Why did they escalate tensions and kidnap them in the first place? That started the aggressive defense.
They are truly evil.

Grand Theft Auto: Augusta?

I saw this over the weekend. It's security camera footage of a man pulling off an elaborate jewelry heist...with a hammer. Thomas Crown this guy is not.

MTV 2, Marriage 0

The next couple to sign up for an MTV show documenting their eternal love does so at their own risk.

Hey! Someone sent a letter!

Posted by gimpel on July 18, 2006 - 5:21 AM

Dear Gimpel,
We are retired gentle people. Wasps have built a nest on our front porch. Our neighbors across the street were bitten by wasps on their porch. They tell us to ignore the wasps and they’ll go away. But wasps have taken over their front and back porch. They go in and out through a side door. They still say they are ignoring the wasps, that soon they’ll just go away.

A real American hero

Talk bad about me if you want to, but for me the world is darker place right now.

Liberals first, Americans second?

Posted by gimpel on July 16, 2006 - 11:05 AM

After 444 days of impotent “diplomacy and negotiations” by Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan gained the release of the American hostages.
He did it just by being Ronald Reagan.

Thank you, President Bush.

For doing whatever is necessary to prevent this:

Mumbai commuter train blasts kill 170
At least 170 people were killed and hundreds more injured on Tuesday after a series of co-ordinated explosions ripped through Mumbai’s commuter transport network in the middle of the evening rush hour.
No warning was given for the blasts, which came within hours of a wave of explosions in Srinigar, the capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, where a series of grenade attacks killed eight people and wounded more than two dozen.

Video: Chimp plays Ms. Pac Man

Posted by tywebb on July 11, 2006 - 8:11 PM

This chimpanzee is not the best Ms. Pac Man player I've ever seen, but he's not the worst, either.

Islam Forbids Aggressive Violence? III

Posted by gimpel on July 09, 2006 - 9:18 AM

So far, no Muslim, or the writers of the deceitful articles, have defended their position that Islam is, indeed, a “peaceful” religion.

Liberals and Big Brother

Posted by gimpel on July 07, 2006 - 5:45 AM

Well, just an irritating little brother now, but he’s growing.
Liberals like to accuse government, especially the Bush Administration terrorist surveillance programs, of being like Big Brother, from the book “1984.”
But it is the liberal establishment, and the media, that is more like big brother.

Be an American; wear a bikini

Posted by Channing-100Proof on July 06, 2006 - 7:38 PM

As we prepare to celebrate our nation's birthday I feel that we should also honor one of the things that make this country great... the bikini. It's true the bikini was invented by a Frenchman but here in America we have taken it to a whole new level.

Gore lies and Moore lies – 4 stars

Posted by gimpel on July 05, 2006 - 5:43 AM

Oh, why is Roger Ebert limited to only four?
Perhaps because stars are, actually, quite hot.
Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.
Those who don’t know science are just plain doomed.
They replace the hard parts of science with cartoon suns, cartoon earths, and cartoon graphs representing complex changes in extremely complex processes.
That is what Al Gore (remember, President Bush had a higher GPA) did.
And Roger Ebert fell for it.

Al Gore – faster than a receding glacier...

Posted by gimpel on July 03, 2006 - 6:03 AM

Well, Superman wears a cape when he flies.
Al rides in the back of a Mercedes with his laptop. Both are saving the world.

Essentially, the plot is this:
Al Gore is Winston Churchill.
Global warming is Hitler.
Anyone who does not believe is Chamberlain.

If you need warning labels for the safe operation of bungee cords, safety labels informing you that a Wal-Mart Batman cape will not allow you to fly, or signs telling you not to stop on railroad tracks, “An Inconvenient Truth” is for you.

An unlocked door, a sacrifice

Posted by gimpel on July 01, 2006 - 5:01 PM

Your amendments may be used against you…

Ancient civilizations sacrificed virgins to appease the rain gods or the sun gods or the war gods.
We sacrifice 9-year old little girls to appease the liberal judges on the supreme court, so totally immune from the dangers of an unlocked door.
