Be like Jerry Falwell!

Posted by The_Weasel on November 29, 2005 - 2:22 PM

The Rev. Jerry Falwell has threatened to sic the legal organization Liberty Counsel on anyone who spreads misinformation about how Christmas can be celebrated in schools and public spaces. Perhaps this is his attempt to force people to have a Merry Christmas… or else. The Weasel has decided to follow Rev. Falwell’s lead.

After a two-year split, Mattel wants you to reunite with Ken. Don’t do it girl!

Sports figures that need a Kick in the Throat

Posted by Channing-100Proof on November 29, 2005 - 9:02 AM

Sports, love 'em or hate 'em, you can't deny their power. They make you scream with joy, shout in irritation, or hang your head in shame. It can turn friends into enemies and vice versa. I'll bet Superman and Lex Luthor would get along if they were sitting next to each other at the Super Bowl. Football, basketball, hockey, even non-sports like golf (yes, I said it) all have a way of bringing out strong emotions in people. In the cases of the people below it's emotions like anger and disbelief.

Power of the Green

Here's an interesting read from the New York Times; never underestimate the power of the green, even at the expense of an athlete's true educational future. Just what does this say about the hidden agenda of some colleges?

HearAgain Part 2

Posted by charv on November 23, 2005 - 11:23 AM

continued from HearAgain...

On the upside you become very observant. You can read moods and expressions from across the room. You intuitively know when something is bothering someone. Body language speaks volumes. You know when your children are doing something they shouldn’t or when they don’t feel well. You can watch your husband walk up the driveway and know whether he’s in a good mood or a bad one. You can see the sad little faces of children whose parents are ignoring them in restaurants. The sparkle in her eyes and the smile on her face speak of a young bride’s love for her new husband as eloquently as her words might.

Even the most observant of hearing impaired people though can’t compensate for the lack of sound totally. And just as a blind person can’t really understand the color blue

It's time to recognize the stupid

During the First Annual Kick Them in the Throat Awards, I plan on highlighting people that need a lot more than a smack in the head. A simple smack is not enough to knock some sense into them. They need a stronger dose. They need to be kicked in the throat. It's not pretty but sometimes it's necessary.

HearAgain

A journey from hearing loss….

Some background … From the time I can consciously remember I have always known that hearing loss was going to be a dominate part of my life. My grandmother was totally deaf from her early teenage years. My mother began wearing a hearing aid before I was born, so I’ve never known her as a hearing adult. She told me recently that she even considered not having children because she was afraid the condition was hereditary. She visited a hearing ‘specialist’ in Atlanta who assured her she couldn’t pass it along to her children. Ah well. As it turns out two of her four children ‘got it’. Me and my younger brother. I am grateful for that specialist though. If not for her I wouldn’t be writing these words and you would never have had the chance to read my story.

I thought that would get your attention.

So did Berkley High.

It seems they have a new club this year and have included the details in their school to home email newsletter:

"...an e-mail from Berkeley High. The news was contained in the Student Daily Bulletin.

This is one reason I don't go to church (Sorry Mom)

Posted by Channing-100Proof on November 14, 2005 - 10:27 PM

I stopped going to church because I realized that religion is quite possible the biggest producer of hypocrites and conflicts in the world. It also brings us people like Pat Robertson, the focus of this rant.

Pirates and politicians and polls, oh my!

Posted by Channing-100Proof on November 08, 2005 - 12:20 AM

I don't like politicians. All of them are crooked and so we are usually forced to pick the lesser of two evils. It's like Eddie Murphy said, "You know that they are going to put a foot up your a$$, so you just pick the one with the smallest foot." No matter how great they seem to be, they will find ways to mess up.

What's it Going to Take?

Here is yet another article published in "The Washington Post" about everything except "academics" that continues to go on in public schools:

The article leads with this opening statement:

"Perhaps the most shocking thing about students having sex in a high school auditorium was that other students didn't find it very shocking at all."....

Friends vs. boyfriends

I have never had a real girlfriend in my life (sad but true) but I have been doing boyfriend duties for YEARS. It's too late for me to change but here is how you youngsters can avoid my mistakes.
